Grandma Nita always had a unique way of sending the kids off to bed. Once we were all tucked-in for the night, the last step in the ritual was a good "Bushy-Bushy-Bushy" from Grandma as she bounced us on the bed. As a mother now, I'm not sure that was the calmest way to encourage sleeping, but it was essential from the grandkids' viewpoint. And Grandma never failed in her duty. She also taught us the crazy family words that do not exist in any language (Kenerkled - to be twisted out of shape), the "cheen-chaka" chant as we swung hands together while walking, and that the only way to shop is with a good coupon. Grandma's house meant special times full of waffles, laughter, and hugs. We are striving to carry on the traditions you started in our family, Grandma Nita...Bushey-Bushey. I'll see you in the morning.

My grandma, singing a sweet little song about Teddy Roosevelt...with a surprisingly naughty ending.  If you knew her, no explanation is needed.  The kindest and most loving Grandmother a child could wish for, who knew how to have fun!  It was a right of passage to be old enough to spend one week at Grandma and Grandpa's house during the summers - all by ourselves.  As an adult, I think about that now...what stamina!  And love.  Thank you Grandma for never losing sight of that childlike wonder.  And Monkeybread.

The best mother. And one with always a sense of humor … sometimes an odd sense of humor, but uniquely her own. When I was a teenager and people would say “oh Margie you look just like your mother.” Not what a teenager wants to hear … mother must have been in her late 30s and I thought she was incredibly old and of course I could not look like her! Mother would make it worse by saying …”Say thank you, Margie”  and of course I'd have to say ‘Thank You.” Oh as an adult that would be so funny … people would say …”you look like your mother Margie” …. And I would laugh and look at mother and say “thank you.”  Mother could always keep you a bit off  balance. She was a wonderful woman and will be missed by everyone who knew her …..Daughter, Margie

Oh, sweet Aunt Neta. Your smile and warmth will be missed by all here. For so many years way before email you were faithful to write long, long letters to us about your travels and your children and grandchildren, whom you loved so dearly. What a labor of love to write in longhand a 4 page letter! You often ended with a joke and always wrote the answer below, upside down! I laughed here to read all your many names, so many names for such a tiny, petite lady. Thanks for touching my life with love. What a wonderful woman! She threw me a big wedding shower (the very first one, I was so excited) at the First Baptist Church in Dickinson a LONG time ago. I'll never forget how perfect every detail was. She was working full-time then, but took the time to do that for me. I will miss her so much.

Grandma Anita was a very lucky and blessed woman to have such beautiful people in her family.  We love you and will keep you close to our hearts in this very sad time.  We love you.
