ALICE ALLENE PARCHMAN HAMILTON, 86, born May 23, 1923 in the Houston Heights, passed away March 21, 2010. She graduated from John Reagan High School in 1940 and went on to receive her teaching degree from Sam Houston State in 1944. Alice was employed by Humble Energy and then pursued her passion of elementary education where she was a longtime elementary school teacher for HISD. Upon retirement, she dedicated herself to volunteering in many capacities first at St. Mark's United Methodist and later at St. Philip's United Methodist. Alice is survived by her husband of 60 years, James D. Hamilton; her daughter Donna Traylor and husband Sid and their six children: Sarah, Christa, Rebecca, Albert, Erin and Jordan; and son Paul and his wife Renee and their three children: Janie, Brynne and Reese as well as many other loving family members and friends. Just prior to her passing, Alice witnessed her oldest grandchild Sarah's engagement to Brad Hollas, a longtime friend of the family. Visitation will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home and Cemetary, 6900 Lawndale, at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24th and the service will follow at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Alice 's memory to St. Philips United Methodist Church, 5501 Beechnut St, Houston, TX 77096.
