Guests may call upon the family for a time of visitation on Friday, October 18, 2024 from 5 PM - 7 PM at Greater New Salem Baptist Church. A second time of visitation will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 12 PM – 2 PM in the Sanctuary of Greater New Salem Baptist Church; followed by a Homegoing Celebration will begin at 2 PM. Burial will be in the Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church Cemetery.
Rosa was a resident of Houma, La. She retired from the Social Security Administration after 37 years of dedicated service.
Rosa was baptized at an early age by the late Rev. Houston McEwen. She was a devoted member of the Greater New Salem Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Harold V. Roussell, Sr. until his death in 2017.
Rosa is survived by her mother, Alma Banks; her daughters Jernae’ and Kierra Bolden; her husband’s son, Geontay D. Bolden; grandchildren, Lathan Bolden and Malachi Oge; brothers, Ernest (Cheryl) Banks, Jr. and Andrew (Ethel) Banks; three God-children, Koike Brown, Sandra Melendez, and Wendy Scott Brown; brothers- in-law, Cornelius (Vera) Bolden and Carney Bolden; sisters-in-law, Oneal Fenderson, Mary “Jenny” Bolden, Gayleen Banks, and Cheryl Banks of Destin, Florida; special friends Rhonda Williams, Justine Palmer, Faye Williams, Wayne and Elaine Townsend, Pamela Ross, Audrey Alridge, Kenyatta Buggage, Michael Jones, Sr., and Lucky Hite and a host of nieces, nephews, other members family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Archie T. Bolden; her father, Ernest Banks, Sr.; paternal grandparents Leroy and Henrietta James Banks; maternal grandparents E.J. and Irecia Taylor Simmons; father-in-law Cornelius Bolden, Jr. and mother-in-law, Zenobia Thompson Bolden; brother-in-law Newman Bolden; sisters-in-law, Gaynell Castle, Muriel Bolden Tyler, Ocea Bolden Taylor, Doris Bolden Kane; God-child, Alonzo Brown, III; and her best friend, Deborah Ann Bass Jones.
The family wants to give a special thanks to Rekeitha Larvadain and Angie Cheramie, two of her nurses who were truly dedicated to Rosa until the very end.
