She is survived by her sons, John Scott (Topeka) and Jerome Scott; daughters, Nicole Scott and Monique Williams (Horace); sixteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brothers, Arthur Bishop (Rose), Lawyer Williams, Jr., Melvin Williams, Sr. (Melinda) and Michael Williams, Sr. (Paula); sisters, Anna Franklin, Enola Westley, Duann McKenzie (Jessie, Sr.), Bertha Lawson (Sherman), Karen Williams, Laura Coleman (Kevin), and Beverly Thomas; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elijah Lawson; parents, Lawyer, Sr. and Helen Madison Williams; brothers, Raymond and Leonard Scott. She was reared by Daisy Lake and Duncan Williams.
In an effort to comply with the CDC recommendations to cancel/postpone events with 50 or more people for 8 weeks, and imploring people to stay home and limit social interaction, no public funeral services will be conducted at this time.
For individuals still wishing to view the body, a walk-through viewing will be conducted from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at New Rising Sun Baptist Church, 230 St. Charles St. in Houma. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
