Blaine Watson, age 42, a native of Franklin and a resident of Houston, TX, died February 2, 2011 in Houston, TX at his residence. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday, February 11, 2011 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Franklin, from 10:00 AM until funeral at 1:00 PM. Officiating, Rev. Allen Ray Randle. After a successful grade school career, Blaine graduated from Franklin High School in 1986. Continuing his legacy of scholastic achievement, he attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana (Now ULL), where he received the Kay B. Drake Award as one of the top 10 student athletic trainers in the nation. Blaine cultivated his passion for sports throughout his college career. He graduated from USL with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Planning & Geography in 1991. Immediately upon graduating from college, Blaine journeyed to Houston to begin his work career. He was employed as a Customer Service Representative for Banker's United and as Assistant Manger at Altra Rental Car. Blaine then moved up to lead A-Rated Insurance as Vice President ad Manager. He later became employed with Conn's Appliance Center, where he worked diligently for over ten years in the warehouse facility. He was employed as a Customer Service Representative for Banker's United and as Assistant Manger at Alta Rental Car. Blaine then moved up to lead A-Rated Insurance as Vice President Ad Manager. He later became employed with Conn's Appliance Center, where he worked diligently for over ten years in the warehouse facility. Through Conn's, Blaine encountered and touched the lives of many customers and colleagues with his nonchalance and easy going spirit. Blaine was employed with Conn's until November 2010. Blaine leaves to cherish his memories; his loving mother, Mollie L. Watson of Franklin; a brother, Lennis E. Watson of Natchitoches, La; his grandmother, Elnora Lightfoot of Franklin; seven aunts, Laura Gibson (Chester), Delores Madison (Henry), Yvonne Francis (Ronald), Dianna Watson and Lucy Watson all of Franklin, Barbara Starland (Kenneth) of Lake Charles, and Carla Drexler (Harold) of Lafayette; three uncles, Rev. Preston Watson (Precious) of Franklin, Walter Lightfoot (Linda) of Lafayette and Louis James Watson (Gracie) of Houston, TX. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Lenel Watson; paternal grandparents, Oscar Watson, Sr. and Lee Ethel Watson; maternal grandfather, James Lightfoot; aunt, Ramona Watson White and uncles, Oscar Watson, Jr. and John W. Flowers.
