Francis Dunbar, 92, resident of Aurora, IL, former resident of Elmhurst, IL for 38 years, and Hot Springs, Arkansas for 26 years, passed away February 11, 2019. Frank was born in Hopewell, Virginia, to the late Charles and Lillian Dunbar on November 6, 1926.
As a young child Frank and his brother, Herb, left Hopewell and moved to Chicago which became his home for many years. . And he loved the Chicago Cubs. In his younger years, he never missed an opening day game. He lived his life waiting for the Cubs to win the World Series.
Frank was a United States Army WWII Veteran. In 1947, still a young serviceman, he met the love of his life, Adeline, while she was working in her father’s coffee shop. They married the following year and shared 69 years of faith, friendship and family.
After the military, Frank worked as a typesetter/printer for American Typesetting Company in Chicago. His love of travel insured an adventurous family vacation was taken every year.
But his life was all about his family. Time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren was his favorite time of all. Often Frank would be moved to tears talking about his great grand babies. He would do anything for his family.
Meeting Frank in Heaven will be his wife, Adeline; his three sons Lawrence, James and Robert; as well as his parents, Lillian and Charles; and his brother and sister-on-law, Herb and Maxine.
His memory will be cherished by his daughter Linda (David) Hickman; grandchildren Desiree Kice, Kelsey Dunbar, Tracey (Johnny) Byrne, Tammy (Tyler) Kamholz, Kimberly (Franco) DeAstis; and eight great grandchildren.
