Don was born on September 12, 1935 in Hot Springs to the late Elmer and Dorothy Fae Bridges. Don was an advocate for the Hot Springs tourism industry his entire adult life. He helped to keep tourism going during the sad years after gambling and before the revitalization. He was an icon on Central Avenue from the time he was a small boy.
In 1955 Don started the Checker Cab Company and Gray Line Sightseeing. He also owned and operated Airport Limousine Service and the Amphibious White and Yellow Duck Tours for 39 years.
Don started the XYZ Hunting Club over 5o years ago and was an avid deer and quail hunter. He loved to water and snow ski and was the Hot Springs Country Club Tennis Champion for several years. He was also a lifetime member of the Jaycees and Sertoma Club.
Every hobby Don had, every venture he took on he did with great passion and enthusiasm. He had a way of making everyone around him feel special, loved and important. His greatest passion however was his family. All through his life they were the center of his world. He was an incredibly devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed beyond measure. His memory will live on in their hearts forever.
