Bishop and Sister Martin would visit Memphis for the COGIC Holy Convocation. My parents, Robert and Gaynell White would host them for dinner on official Sunday every year. I always remembered how kind they were and how they always gifted us macadamia nuts. This memory came to mind as we prepare for a family trip to Hawaii! God bless!

It's 2017 Daddy, and I'm living life! I had to sell the house, however God provided me with another. I felt your presence when I signed the lease, yours and Mommy. It was so overwhelming with peace. I'm stuck in L.A. right now, trynna get home. Funny huh? We're gonna be alright. The boys play football now, I know you'd be there cheering them on, sometimes I dream of you yellin their name, rooting for them. I miss you grampa. And I love you.

Dear Daddy,
So much has happen in the past month, it's been just about that come tomorrow. I wanna get this in your book before it closes out. I get quiet time at home, with ol'sku gosple music we used to listen to when i was growing up, This has carried me thru the changes. Everyone is alright, and in their rightful places. Im accepting the place that here at home is where I am to be, no where else. You have always spoke life into my future, and now I get to live it. Thank you for my home, thank you for the love and the joy you've given me from the heavens. I know if I continue to live right, Daddy No matter what's ahead, there's no turning back. I know that strength and faith you always wanted me to embrace, that forgiveness you wanted me to practice, and love you never short changed me of, My spirit is strong, its got Jesus all in it and i'm so greatful. "Maka, what are you going to do when I'm gone?" is what you always asked me growing up.Well Daddy, Im 43 now, and God has called you home. Now I have an answer to your question. I live my life to the fullest, I pray to God and lean on Him in all things. I put God first and trust in Him, I work and make a living for me and my children. I do what you have taught me to do and don't stop. I love myself as well as my neighbor, and I forgive even if its not asked, and I ask for forgiveness even if I don't see it. I keep my word and be the child that God would have me to be. I hush, and wait on God. This is a far cry from what my answer used to be huh? As a child I say I would go with you, I didn't know any better that I couldn't. Because of you and the faith you have in God and His Son Jesus, I have a life today with the promise that if I continue to do His will, I too will be where you and mommy are today. We are all okay, Sarah, Rachel, Dereklee, Darius, Micah and Kobe love you and miss you too. There's not enough space in this for me to express how much I am greatful to you. You lived your golden years for us, and you would have never left if you knew we wouldn't be alright. Thats my confirmation that at this time, it is my turn. To live out and be the daughter you raised and prayed for me to become. To God be the glory! Grampa, you look so beautiful. And I love you forever. Thank you God and thank you grampa for my life

Grandpa,
It has taken me a few weeks to gather my thoughts, to try and wrap my mind around your passing. You are in heaven, with Grandma. Don't think I'll ever be able to. You have been, and have meant so much to me, so much that between my memories and your lessons; I feel there is no end to this windstorm of pain. Still, thanks to you and Grandma I know there is comfort in the center of this storm. I just have to hold on to GOD's hands, eventually I'll get through this.
I wish J.D. (what you called Jade) had gotten her chance to sit on your lap, and bask in your love. You had such a gift for making all your girls feel exclusively special in your eyes, regardless of blood or relational ties. It didn't matter if she was your daughter, granddaughter, great- granddaughter, GOD-given daughter, you helped us feel unique, that little touch from GOD'S own hand. You tried your best to be an earthly portrayal of our Heavenly FATHER.  I wish she had a chance to meet you face to face.
 Grandpa I was blessed to have you as my dad. There is No Thing I could not have possibly wanted or needed any more than all you gave me, because you gave me all. 
BECAUSE OF YOU, I believe this to be true.
Duty refers to an obligation, something that not only ought to be done, but is not optional. It is something bound upon a person. The father must accept his personal duty to God (Rom 14:12 “So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God”). This will determine his duties to others and how he is to meet other obligations. He cannot fulfill his duty if he leaves God out because God is the originator and designer of the home, having brought it into existence with purpose. Duty to God means he has a duty to family because God requires that of him. (1stTim 5:8, “But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” 
A man's responsibility to his family begins before he even has a family. He is to keep himself morally pure, develop his character, learn to work, and to never be abusive toward members of his family whether they are younger, older, or whatever the relationship. He must not abuse his body with drugs lest the consequences be a detriment to his yet unborn children. He needs to learn what true love is. In other words, he must learn what his duties are before he undertakes the discharge of them.
He does this best when he makes himself a man of faith, integrity, conviction, and honor rather than simply seeking wealth, power, fame, and pleasure. Being a father is not a boy's job. It takes a real man.

Well grandpa... Not too sure where to start off... So I guess I'll start by sayin I miss u, the kids miss u, we all miss u... We know where u are, we know u are jus the happiest camper up there in heaven wit grandma with nothin but smiles!!! You gave me 25 years of true bliss & love!! U never judged me.. Maybe a lump on the head once or twice but you never loved me less... Through all my irra moments you always showed me love & always kept me church so now today I always keep my kids in church!!! Teaching them what was taught to me by you & grandma!!! It's hard walking pass your room & catching myself sayin good morning, good night, or to even check up on you to see what u wanted for dinner!!! Hehe I miss you sooooooo much grandpa!!! I remember the last thing you told me in the hospital.. You said you was looking for your wife!!! Well grandpa you found your way back to her, not that you wouldn't have but hey 50 years married 12 years apart & now!!!! Your spending ETERNITY with her!!! Wow simply beautiful grandpa!!! You was always there spiritually physically emotionally & now I carry you in my heart my mind my soul!!! I love & miss you grandpa...

to grandpa Martin, you truly are a blessing. i have watched your grandchildren grow up under your care and kind heart and it hurt my heart deeply to learn that you are now gone. You always had a smile and gentle words to say. you never got my name right lol, i was andre. but you watched me walk down the beach in maile and i was honored to have you marry me. things may not have worked out but of course you never said an unkind word or i told you so... God has called you home and i must say i feel blessed to have ever met such a wonderful loving man as yourself. RIL grandpa martin.

You will be forever remembered. and truly missed.
