Mike as he was known to his friends, retired from the United States Post Office in 1991, after 41 years as a Director of Human Resources and he was also Assistant Post Master, Honolulu. He served in the US Army during World War II.
He was born on May 24, 1926 and graduated from Kamehameha Schools class of 1945 and attended the University of Hawaii.
During his free time, he loved to play cards and traveled with his wife Frances of 63 years, throughout Europe, the Orient, and the mainland, which always ended in Las Vegas.
He was diagnosed with cancer in 2021 and remained optimistic and never giving up hope that he could beat it. He passed away peacefully at The Villas at the wonderful age of 97.
Besides his loving wife, he is also survived by his sisters Elaine Akau and Jean Hiraoka (Calvin), and many nephews, nieces, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws.
