

On Wednesday, June 23, 2021, Cho On Chang, loving husband, father of three, and grandfather of four, passed away at his home in Kapolei. He is survived by his wife Cheuk Wah; sons Jason and Jordan; daughter Jo Ann; and grandchildren Yoni, Coby, Kingston, and Mika.
Cho was born on March 23, 1948, in Macau to Walter Chang and Yuk Hing Wong. At the age of 16, he moved to Honolulu to be with his dad and attended Kalani High School. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1973. In September 1977, he married Cheuk Wah Lam in Hong Kong and moved back to Honolulu a year later. They raised one daughter, Jo Ann, and two sons, Jason and Jordan. Cho worked as an accountant/auditor for local companies such as KGMB TV, Ideal Finance, American Hawaii Cruises, Vim N’ Vigor at Ala Moana Shopping Center, and Allstate Insurance. He retired in 2014 after working for over 13 years in the travel industry. He was also a Citizenship and English teacher for 20 years and helped hundreds of Cantonese-speaking immigrants become naturalized US citizens.
Cho had a passion for food, music, and dancing. In high school, he participated in intramural Chess and was the Ping Pong Champion in 1965. He loved going out to eat at restaurants and watching movies at home on Netflix. He looked forward to his annual trips to Seattle, Washington, to visit his son Jordan as well as to Las Vegas, Nevada, to visit his daughter Jo Ann and her family.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 PM on Friday, July 23rd, at Borthwick Mortuary. His final resting will follow at Hawaii Memorial Cemetery.
