Barbara "Betty" Dries Chun, 96, of Pearl City passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021 surrounded by loved ones in her daughter's home in Waikele. She was born in Rüdesheim am Rhein, Germany where she met her Hilo-born husband and American soldier Herbert K.H. Chun during World War II. They eventually moved to Hawaii where they raised their 8 children, 22 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren for more than seven decades.
She is survived by her children—Herbert Chun (Joanne), Linda Kastenholz (Peter), Sharon Chun (Lena), Steven Chun (Ok Sun), Anthony Chun (Paula), Karen Hironaka (Steven), Veronica Kaneko-Cambra (Jay), and Theresa Alejado (Thomas).
Services will be held on Wednesday, January 5th, 2022 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Pearl City. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to10:30am followed by a 10:30am Service and 11:00am Mass.
