My father Abraham Akau Sr., was a man of few words but yet he spoke volumes with his smile, hugs and life. If you wanted to talk to him, he was a great listener and in his simplicity his response or advice would just hit the spot then you would walk away either amazed or comforted, most of the time both. He loved to share about the Lord and how good God is and how Jesus is the answer. He also loved to share about his life as a cowboy and all his experiences.
As his daughter, I often stood amazed that a man with a 9th grade education, and he would say "I only going to school to eat lunch", could have so much knowledge! Just seeing in my lifetime, all the the things he could do, I'm sure there was alot more even before I was born.
At a very young age, my siblings and I learned to share our parents because he was like a pied piper. People as well as children would draw to him all the way till his death. He would open our home to everyone, as my mom always had a hot meal ready to eat no matter the time of the day. They both had a way of making you feel like family, even if they just met you.
He loved his family so much. Even if you werent blood, he made you feel like a part of the family, he loved you. To alot of people he was known as Abraham but even more people knew him as "Papa", "Tutu", "Uncle", "Manny", "Pastor" and "Kahu". He would respond to any of them.
Well, he has lived a good life and he was always thankful to God for the life that he was blessed with. My father and mother always taught us to love God. He always told us that they wouldn't live forever but the Lord will. He and my mother taught us to stay close and to love each other as well. He would tell us "if you fall off your horse, get back on. If you dont you will be scared to ride a horse again", so we did. He also said that in life we all fall but we need to get up, forgive and get going. So on that note family and friends, Papa would not want you to be angry at anyone concerning this accident. We as his family have extended our love to thefamily. As Papa would say, "all is well". We are comforted to know that he is with mommy and riding on his dream horse on the streets of gold, watching the animals in pastures so green and having a reunion with family, friends and horses that went before him.
So I thank you all for loving him, working with him, laughing with him, crying with him serving God with him. This made his life full.
To Papa, A hui hou for now. Save room for me in your mansion in the sky. Words cannot express how much i love you!
Love always,
Your baby girl Miracle
