2000 characters is not nearly enough to describe what "kind of a man" Peter Bartók was. 
From building a sophisticated contraption to save a kitten's life that fell in an deep well in his New York apartment, to inventing new fuel-injectors for his beloved blue Mercedes Benz, to inventing new recording technics and, most importantly, to take on the enormous task of producing corrected editions of all of his father's published works, Peter was one-of-a-kind.
During my tenure of about 23 years, Peter was more than just my employer,  he became my best friend and he would always introduced me as "my successor" everywhere we went even when we went to Basel, Switzerland to meet with the people in charge of the Paul Sacher Foundation or the person in charge of his bank accounts amongst others. 
I tried, to the best of my ability, to helped him fulfill his life-time goal but unfortunately we did not succeed and now that Peter is no longer with us, who knows what is going to happen to that unfinished project.
Hopefully the ones in charge of Peter's estate will pick up where we left off and follow Peter's whishes.
Peter Bartók was a very special human being incapable of doing harm to anyone or anything, smart, compassionate, very funny, generous and best friend. 
So long my friend., I'll be seeing you.

Dear Bartok family,
Just finished watching the tv program about Bartok narrated by Peter Bartok made me think of the numerous Bela Bartok Choir festivals in Hungary. Having participated made me realize that he will never be forgotten as often times I found myself humming the songs whether it’s a lullaby or for comfort. It’ll sure be passed down to the following generations. Out of sight but not out of mind . Thank you for the sentimental memories. Judith

We are sorry to learn of Mr. Bartok's death.  We know how close you and Laura were to him for a number of years and share many memories of travels with him and caring for him in his final years.  May he rest in peace.

His heart was rare...a true rare gem. I wish he knew just how much I loved and appreciated him. I will forever appreciate him for his help when my parents passed away....but again...his heart was the most memorable connection I had with him. 

My son Matthew Béla was born this year on your birthday...my brother told me that he shared the news with you. That made me so happy. 

Rest In Peace dear cousin. This world was incredibly lucky to have you ❤️🙏🏽

Peter Bartok had a profound influence on my life and many others in our small community and the world.  His influence will continue with
of all of us who remember his generous spirit. Rest in peace dear Peter.

My sincere condolences to all the persons who were close to him and who shared his passion for the music of his father.

We are so sorry to hear of Peter's death, and we send our sincere condolences. All of us here at Historic Saranac Lake are grateful to have known Peter. 

Each year, people from around the world come to tour the Bartók Cabin in Saranac Lake, where Peter's father spent the last summer of his life. As we tour the cabin, we tell stories that Peter shares in his book, "My Father" and in the documentary film, "After the Storm." Peter's first-hand accounts bring the history to life. 

We are thankful for all Peter's support over the years and for his tireless work to preserve his father's legacy. Of the many books about Béla Bartók, "My Father" will always be our favorite. 

It was a pleasure talking many times to Peter Bartok while Mary Hotaling and I raised funds to resurrect the cabin that his father, Bela Bartok lived in during his summer stay in Saranac Lake in 1945.  One day a surprise generous check arrived from Peter which allowed us to complete our project. Upon our opening event, 
a lovely flower arrangement arrived from him explaining that he was unable to attend in person. Since 2003, many musicians and historians have visited the cabin which Peter helped restore to its original simplicity. Historic Saranac Lake is very grateful to him.
