June L Shelley

June Lillian Shelley (AKA: Momma Shelley, Momma June, Miss June), of Crystal River, FL, passed away on Sat., Nov. 27, 2021. She was born in Manasquan, NJ on January 15th, 1927, to Charles and Lillian Cook. Because of her dad’s Coast Guard career, June moved to many beach locations during her childhood. That brought on a love of fishing, swimming and shell collecting. After graduation from Bob Jones University in 1948, she met and married Rev. Gordon Shelley in 1949 and joined him in ministry. They moved to Crystal River in 1972 where June was a kindergarten teacher at Crystal River Primary School until retiring in 1989. After retirement, June and Gordon traveled abroad to many exciting places. After Gordon died in 2002, June remained active in trips, community activities and church involvement at Seven Rivers Presbyterian Church. She leaves behind 2 younger brothers and their families, 5 children and their spouses, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, faithful friends and former students. June will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Seven Rivers Christian School, 4221 West Gulf to Lake Hwy, Lecanto, FL 34461.
