Dorothy “Frenchie” Barnes, 92, of Lecanto, FL , passed away on Wed., March 13, 2013 at Green Acres Assisted Living. A native of Akron, OH, she was born to Paul F. and Aurelie J. (Bonnabeau) Perry. Dorothy’s working life was well involved with owning and operating both a beauty salon and the Walnut Hill Tack Shop, both in Geneva, OH. She moved to Lecanto two years ago from Pensacola, where she had lived since 1985, shortly after her beloved husband of 40 years, The Late Robert Barnes, passed away. Dorothy was of the Episcopalian faith and was an avid dancer. Her love of ballroom dancing with her beloved partner of 20 years, The Late Grover Thomas, was witnessed in a number of Pensacola venues, such as the Civilairs and the Over 55 Club. Mrs. Barnes is survived by her four children: Leilani Gill-Hamer (husband Harlan) and Robert Barnes (wife Kathy), both of Pace, FL; Patricia Hayden (husband James), Lecanto, FL; William Barnes (wife Lisa), New Carlisle, OH; 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Mrs. Barnes was also preceded in death by her siblings, Robert Perry and Doris Day.
