Cheryl Lynn Bassett, age 71, beloved wife of Charles (Chuck) Bassett, passed away peacefully at 8:00 P.M. on August 17th at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, FL after battling illness for several months. She was surrounded by family members at the time of her passing. Born in Pekin, Illinois to James L. Syfert and Ruth Billingsly Syfert on October 14, 1949, she married Chuck Bassett on July 15, 1992 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She worked as an Assistant Public Affairs Coordinator for Caterpillar Tractor Company; as a Supervssor for the United States Postal Service, and finally as a Casino Host at the Para-Dice Casino in East Peoria, Illinois, retiring in 2015. She and her husband relocated to Homosassa Springs, Florida in 2015, where she did volunteer work for the State of Florida Department of Elder Affairs. Her passions were her family, crafting, her flower gardens, her pets and her swimming pool. She is survived by her husband Chuck of Homosassa Springs, and her family that she loved very much: daughter Melanie Schrock and son-in-law Brian Schrock of Melbourne Beach, Florida; sons Mark Bassett and Greg Struthers of West Chicago, Illinois; granddaughter Caitlin Stenerson and her fiance Marcus Blair of Palm Bay, Florida; grandson Nicholas Stenerson and his fiance, Nadia Ghasemi of Viera, Florida; as well as her beloved pets, Sadie and Roxy. No services are scheduled at this time.
