Mynette Barnhill Campbell, age 94, of Homewood, Alabama died peacefully at home surrounded by her children on Tuesday, June 21, 2022. Mynette was born in Enterprise, Alabama on July 19, 1927 to the late Ruby B. and Wiley M. Barnhill.
Mynette was a graduate of Dothan High School. She met Joe Campbell, who was a reporter covering courthouse proceedings for the Dothan Eagle, while she was a secretary for one of the Judges. They moved to Birmingham in 1950 and she later became a devoted member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Mynette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will always be remembered for her devotion to her family.
Mynette was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband of 58 years, Joe Campbell. She is survived by her daughters Sheila Walton (Ron) and Angela Martin, and by her son Joe Campbell (Susan). Also left to treasure the memory of Gigi are her grandchildren; Eric Gilbert (Michele), Emily Hayes (Brian), Rachel Holt(Ron), Amanda Wood (Luke), Kyle Campbell (Ashley) and Micah Wade (Jeff) and her great-grandchildren; Weston Holt, Sadie Holt, Kayleigh Wood, Josiah Wood, Holden Hayes, Nikki Wade and Nate Wade.
The visitation and Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, the 27th of June, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church located at 1728 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, Alabama 35209. Friends are cordially invited to visit with the family beginning at ten o’clock in the morning. The Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at eleven o'clock. Immediately following the service, The Rite of Committal will be performed, via escorted cortege, at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama.
Flowers are welcomed, but for those who wish, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Mynette's memory be made to Heart of the Nation.org or a favorite charity.
