Linda Taylor Hancock, age 73 of Birmingham AL passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday September 7, 2016. Linda graduated from Miss Howard's School for Girls in 1960. Later, she went on to graduate with an Honors (Cum Laude) degree in Education from Birmingham Southern College in 1979. After graduation from Birmingham Southern, she taught for the Birmingham City School System for the next 32 years. She held her last teaching position at Carrie A. Tuggle Elementary in North Birmingham before retiring in 2011. She was preceded in death by her father James L. Taylor. She is survived by her mother Ellen Ruth Leeth Taylor of Birmingham AL, her husband James Alan Hancock of Birmingham AL, her son William Clifton Hancock of Atlanta GA, her son Kevin Coleman Hancock (Jessica Beardsley Hancock) & grandson Jackson Guillory Hancock all of Asheville NC, and her daughter Katelyn Camille Hancock of Birmingham AL. To honor Linda, a Celebration of Life Service will be held 2pm Sunday September 18, 2016 @ First United Methodist Church, 518 19th Street North, Birmingham, AL 35203. A visitation with the family will follow in the church's fellowship hall.
