After graduating from Hueytown High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. They made their home in Birmingham, Alabama.
Leonard had a lengthy career with TCI/U.S. Steel, and after an early retirement, he had a secondary career with the Jefferson County Health Department. Again, retiring and working with Professional Couriers.
Throughout the years Leonard was a faithful servant of several church congregations. Included were Wilkes Baptist Church and Riverside Baptist Church where he served as a life-long deacon and Chairman of the building committee, as well as the Superintendent of both projects. The completion of these two sanctuaries were some of his proudest achievements.
His senior years Leonard spent serving at Lakeside Baptist Church. Many will remember him as the Sunday morning worship greeter-always leaving everyone with a smile.
He had many favorite pastimes over his wonderful 93 years. He had a passion for life whether it be golfing, power walking, or watching his favorite teams- The Braves and Alabama Football.
We anticipate the day when we will be reunited with him in all of God’s glory. We love and miss you.
