James H. Weaver, Jr., of Vestavia Hills, Alabama passed away on April 11, 2022. Born on January 30, 1931 in Fairfield, AL, Jim was a graduate of the Class of 1949 from Fairfield High School and went on to obtain a B.S. degree in 1954 from the University of Alabama. In 1962 he earned his LLB, J.D. from the Birmingham School of Law. Jim was the happiest behind the desk in his office where he enjoyed 60 years in the practice of law in Birmingham, AL. He was a member of Alabama Bar Association, Birmingham Bar Association, and America Bar Association. James was also a faculty member of Birmingham School of Law from 1962-1966, a member of The City Board of Education, in Fairfield, AL from 1971-1982, and president of the Board from 1973-1980. Jim was also a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Birmingham.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James H. Weaver, Sr. and Mildred Marsh Weaver and by his sister, Martha Anne Weaver Robertson. He is survived by Martha Self, his friend and loyal secretary for 60 years and other family members. He will be missed by his family, friends, and associates.
Funeral Services for James Weaver will commence at twelve o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 18th of April, at Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood. Dr. Jim Cooley will officiate. Friends are cordially invited to the visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service, via an escorted cortege, at Valhalla Cemetery.
In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in memory of James may be made to the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home, Alabama Heart Association, Alabama Kidney Foundation or to a charity or cause important to you. Services are under the direction of Ridout’s Valley Chapel (205-879-3401) in Homewood.
