Elizabeth Ann Ritchey

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Roxanne (Tim) Cochran; her grandchildren Zachary; Brooks (Miles) Nordgren; and her sister-in-law, Mary (Joe) Tanory. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years, James Ritchey, and her brothers and sisters, Nell (Phillip) Gagliano; Dave (Fakie) Tanory; Joe Tanory; Ferris, aka Duke (Jasmine) Tanory; Mary (Charles) Mickwee; and Louise (Austin) Prestwood.

Elizabeth was known for her infectious laugh and funny stories, but mostly she will be remembered for her warmth and her love for her family, as well as her faith in God.

Her greatest joy came from being with her family, especially her beautiful daughter and son-in-law, Roxanne and Tim, and grandchildren, Zachary, Brooks and her husband, Miles. She also enjoyed spending time with her extended family and friends, as “everyone” she knew and loved was her “favorite”!

Elizabeth started her career in the IBM department at Continental Gin. She also worked at Ritchey & Ritchey, PA and Vestavia Bowl. Elizabeth was a Toastmistress where she inspired others to take leadership roles and serve their communities. She was an active member in numerous organizations, inclusive of the Shades Valley Chamber of Commerce, St. Anne’s/Azara Club at St. George Melkite Church, as well as the Phoenician Club.

The funeral will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 18th, beginning with visitation from 10:00-11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. A graveside service will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, and all are invited back to Prince of Peace Catholic Church for a light Mercy Meal in the St. Jude Room, provided by the ladies of Prince of Peace.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful nurses from pro health who assisted in caring for Elizabeth. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Prince of Peace Food for the Journey.
