Norma J. Day, 89, formerly of 51 Port Watson Street, Cortland and most recently of the Cortland Care Center, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2012 in the Cortland Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
A lifelong area resident, she was born July 8, 1923 in Truxton, the daughter of the late Bruce and Gladys Potter Bosworth.
Norma was a longtime member of the Homer United Methodist Church and was a member of the Cortland AARP.
She had been employed as a seamstress at Crescent Corset for 16 years and was a daycare provider in the area for more than 30 years.
Norma loved spending time with her family. She was an avid pitch player, and enjoyed watching baseball, especially the New York Yankees.
Surviving are her four sons, Mark (Jeanne) Day of Homer; John (Lorena) Day of Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico; Michael Day of Homer and Donel (Lynne) Day of McLean; seven loving grandchildren, Amber, Lane, Hailey, Deanna, Scott, Julia and Natalie; her sister-in-law, Connie Bosworth of East Homer, one nephew, five nieces and several cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Marvin L. Day in 1993 and two brothers, Frederick and Francis Bosworth.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 N. Main Street, Homer, with Rev. Allan J. Ferguson officiating. Norma will be laid to rest beside Marvin in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer following the funeral.
Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral.
