John was born on May 23, 1932 in Dixie, MO the son of Adrian and Braxie (Boyd) Cave who preceded him in death. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1954. On September 22, 1951 he was united in marriage to Henryetta Rice in Fulton, MO. John was a lifelong farmer and carpenter, building several homes in the mid-Missouri area. He was a faithful member of the New Bloomfield Christian Church and served as the Fire Chief for the New Bloomfield Fire Department from 1977-1992. In his spare time, he was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include: his wife of 71 years, Henryetta Cave of the home; two sons, Daniel Cave (Pam) of Holts Summit, MO and Mark Cave (Sheila) of Cherokee Village, AR; one daughter, Leila Johnson (Jim) of New Bloomfield, MO; one brother, Jim Cave of New Bloomfield, MO; four sisters, Mary Thompson (Norman) of New Bloomfield, Sue Ferguson of Tebbetts, MO, Emma Lou Wassman of Tebbetts, MO and Elizabeth Doty of Tebbetts, MO; seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Jess Cave and Joe Cave.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 9:30 am – 11:00 am at New Bloomfield Christian Church. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the church with Pastor Joe Gibson officiating. Burial will be in Mt Tabor Cemetery in Callaway County with full military honors.
