Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 14, 2018 at Debo Funeral Home in Holts Summit, Missouri. Burial with military honors will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Liberty Cemetery in Belle, Missouri. The family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Ed was born on April 9, 1931 in Belle, Missouri to the late Burgess and Myrtle Bauman Campbell. He was married on November 10, 1972 to Marcella Calvert in Jerseyville, Illinois and she preceded him in death in 2005.
He served his country in the United States Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean War. He then began a forty year career in the trucking business. He worked for Piasa Motor Fuels and was very proud of his safe driving history. He also worked for nineteen years at McDonnell Douglas where he was a part of the experimental lab for the Gemini Space Project.
Ed was a member of the New Bloomfield Christian Church. He enjoyed being a part of the MO-JAC camping club and he loved to go dancing with his wife, Marcella. He also enjoyed deer hunting, traveling and elk hunting in Colorado with his family.
Ed will be remembered for the sacrifices he made for his family and for being a very loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by four daughters, Karen (Jeff) Campbell-Miller of Greenville, South Carolina, Terri Finley of Ratcliff, Arkansas, Shelly Athey of New Bloomfield, Missouri and Kelly (Bob) Long of Jerseyville, Illinois; one brother, William “Bill” (Sherry) Campbell of Owensville, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren and thirty one great-grandchildren.
Ed was also preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Campbell and Robert “Bobby” Campbell and one sister, Erma Lou Gatewood.
