Ronald Charles Elder was born to the late Robert and Bette Elder in Peoria, IL on March 2nd, 1951. He went on to join the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1972.
In 1977 he made the move to Miami, FL and eventually settled down in Fort Lauderdale – Dania Beach area of Broward County. He was passionate about music, photography and film processing and he and his wife Laura owned a Photo/Film Processing Lab on Miami Beach in the mid 80’s until the mid 90’s. He also enjoyed dancing and was an Arthur Murray Dance Instructor prior to owning his own business. He also DJ’d at a Ballroom Dance Club where he met his wife Laura in 1985. They were married a few months later and would have celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary on May 1st.
Ron was blessed with his son Christopher from his first wife Carolyn and then in the early 90’s he and his wife Laura were blessed with a foster daughter and son. The kids are all grown up now and Ron was the proud and well-loved grandfather of 5 grandchildren. His humor and warmth will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Ron is survived by his wife, Laura, his sons, Christopher Elder and Angel Hernandez, his daughter, Elaine Chaleff; his grandchildren, Gabriel and Izabel Elder and Jacob, Aaron and Ava Chaleff.
