Born in Akron, Ohio on August 1, 1933 to Paul and Anna Sokol, raised in Tallmadge, Ohio. He was a volunteer fireman for Tallmadge for 23 years.Served in the U.S. Army
Retired from Carolina Motor Freight, and a member of Teamsters Local 24.Moved to Dania Beach Fl; a city he loved. Dick loved to be in the sun, enjoyed the beach and fishing. He was very active in the community, belonging to Broward County Citizens Observer Patrol, CERTS, and Dania Senior's Club, Awarded the Broward County Triad Citizens of the year 2011. He was a member of Mount Sinai United Methodist Church of Dania Beach.
He was preceded in death by his son Rick Sokol, parents, sister, and brothers.Survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty L. (Williams) Sokol, daughter Beth Sokol-Lesho, son-in-law Joe Lesho and his loving grandson Sam Lesho, sisters Betty and Helen, brother Clerence and sisters-in-law, brothers in-law, nieces and nephews. He never met a stranger, and had many wonderful friends who will miss him. In our hearts forever.
Visitation on Friday, April 27th from 6:00 ~ 8:00 P.M. at the Fred Hunter's Memorial Garden Home, 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, Florida. A funeral service on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Mount Sinai Methodist Church, 113 South Federal Highway, Dania Beach, Florida, 33004. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
