Nurse Pat was the Resident Camp Nurse at her Beloved Y.M.C.A. Resident Camp Takodah in Richmond, NH(operated by the Cheshire County Y.M.C.A. of Keene, NH) in the Mid-to-Late 1980s. Pat was a Trusted Colleague and My Dear Friend with whom I have stayed in contact for 20 years. Through these years .... this 'Professional Camp Nurse'(as a senior adult, But Very Young At Heart) went on to do camp nursing year-round at Outdoor Education Facilities in Massachusetts and other locations Fall-Winter & Spring Seasons, in the brisk of winter's cold; the thick of mud season and the itch of Spring Black Fly Season ..... there was Nurse Pat, fiesty and frill, making her rounds, hospital runs, administering meds, calling the doctors and doing the paperwork .... and Loving It!!! This was Pat's Thing: Camping-Kids-Nursing for the last 3 decades of her senior life Throughout it all she would return to Stoddard, NH every summer to the Island Camp OF Her Childhood(her father was the superintendent of schools in Charlestown, NH and this was their summer vacation get-a-way(no electricity; port-a-potty; access by row boat only and Pat rowed that boat over and back even until last season). Her daughter Diane would pick Pat up every thursday; Drive Pat to Keene, NH to shop and do errons; periodically Pat would give me a call: Hi, This is Nurse-Pat and we'd have a good chat together. My Dear Friend and Trusted Colleague Nurse-Pat was A Very Special Person. Pat was not everyone's friend ... never tried to be .... She was Nurse-Pat ... straight forward, competant, brisk & through ... She Loved Those Camper/Kids!!! She Never Let Me Down .... I could Always Count On Nurse-Pat no matter what else was happening in the camp community ... Nurse-Pat Was A Professional! I will miss her periodic winter phone-calls-from-florida and summer-time-chats. Pat lived a Full and Fulfilled Life. God's Speed My Friend. You've Earned The Promises OF Our Faith. Dear Dorsey Family, I speak for all of the Latham clan in offering our sincere condolences on the passing of our friend, Pat. Throughout our childhood, and continuing through the years, Pat has been an essential friend to us and also to our father, Robert Latham. And, I remember clearly the summer vacations spent at your house in Hollywood - a respite from the frozen north, and a haven provided by the hospitality and warmth that was quintessential Pat each and every time we visited. We are saddened by her passing, and our thoughts go with you, her family, and with her. Pat was an inspiration in many ways, and we always looked to her as a great person in our lives.
