Marvin resided in Baldwin but spent many years in Holland. He worked for Flint Inc. for over 35 years until his retirement. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, as he enjoyed contributing to many faith-based organizations.
Marvin enjoyed spending time with his family, and especially liked going on long car rides where he could spend time talking with them.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Martha as well as his sister Hazel Rice. He was also preceded by brothers-in-law Lonnie Stewart and Eldon Geerlings and son-in-law Michael Woodwyk.
Marvin is survived by daughters Shannon Woodwyk of Spring Lake and Maureen Miles of Holland; Step-daughter Katherine Martinez; Sisters Grace Stewart of Holland, Rose (Craig) Stam of Baldwin, Crystal (Bob) Walters of Dorr and Pearl Geerlings of Zeeland; and Brother David (Charlotte) Miles. He is also survived by grandchildren Shianna Woodwyk, Daron Martinez, and Aaron (Mariah) Martinez; as well as great-grandchildren Marie and Mario.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 10 at 1:30 PM at Lakeshore Memorial Services – 11939 James St. Holland, 49424 with burial following at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan, Grand Rapids Branch, 1345 Monroe Ave NW #140, Grand Rapids MI 49505.
