Cheryl Anne-Scholten Mott, 76, of Zeeland, Michigan passed away on Friday, Dec. 8 at home after 12 years with Parkinson’s disease. She was the second child of five of parents Harold and Charlotte Scholten of Holland, Michigan. She is survived by her husband Dennis and children Brian (Becca), Sarah, and Jason, and grandchildren Eli and Liam, and by brother Gary (Phyllis) Scholten and sisters Sally (Robert deceased) John, Nancy (Mike) Emerick, and Carol (Roger) Eldean.
She expressed her care for others by graduating with a nursing degree from Wayne State University and working in public health settings in both Oakland and Ottawa counties. She retired in 2009.
Cheryl enjoyed a variety of activities including crafting and living her faith by membership and volunteer activities at Faith Reformed Church in Zeeland. She enjoyed participating in numerous classes and activities at Evergreen Commons. Cheryl was unafraid of learning new things from other cultures, which helped shape her world view. In her 46 years of marriage to Dennis, they traveled extensively, both nationally and internationally, which is no surprise since they met on a bus trip! They married five months after that fateful trip!
Following cremation, a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 16 from 1 to 3 pm at Lakeshore Memorial on 11939 James St., Holland 49424. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider donating to Michigan Parkinson Foundation or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
