She was born in Elizabethton, TN on February 26, 1942. She attended City High school, graduating in 1960, then later in life attended Centenary College in NJ, with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, then completing her CPA exams. Shirley had many talents – an artistic painter, accountant, devoted friend, loving wife for 62 years, church Elder and financial officer, and world traveler. She toured Europe and visited 46 of the 50 states. She followed her Army husband to Lawton, OK, then El Paso, TX. Then out of the Army, the family moved to New Jersey and lived for many years, and retiring back to Chattanooga – where family lived and the most beautiful place they had ever lived. Shirley loved and enjoyed her friends in Red Hats, and in her Falling Water Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She will be sadly missed, but now she is in the loving arms of her savior – Jesus Christ, so don’t cry too much.
We want to thank the Hearth Hospice people, the caregivers of “Phileo” (brotherly love) and Memorial Hospital of Hixson who made Shirley’s passing – gentle and peaceful.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Allan and Martha Clark and a sister, Mary Allan Webb.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bill F. McCoy; sister, Margaret (John) Scott and a niece, Denise (Steve) Wilson.
The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm on Tuesday, December 3, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
