Ralph was born April 9, 1932. Ralph served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. With his wife Jo Ann they started the White Star Cleaners Laundry and Linen business in 1963. A family owned business that still is in operation to this day.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Jo Ann Whitmire, parents Ralph Whitmire, Sr., and Daisy Burns Whitmire, brothers Lee; Billy Joe; Fred; Elvin Whitmire, and 2 sisters Louise Grayson and Lorraine Alig.
He is survived by children Sherry Whitmire Eldridge (Mike), Kim Whitmire Reynolds (Rick) and Robert Whitmire (Lois), his five grandchildren which he loved greatly including Michael (Jessica) Eldridge, Will (Katie) Eldridge, Hogan Whitmire, Marie Whitmire and Brooke Whitmire, 3 great-grandchildren Ewen; Eli; and Evyn Eldridge, brother Kenneth Whitmire, and a sister Peggy Sims, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday August 25, 2022 at 11:00 am with Minister Steve Lusk officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday August 24, 2022 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Ralph will be laid to rest with his wife, Jo Ann in the Chattanooga Memorial Park.
