She was born November 02, 1954 to Orville King and Thelma (Brown) King in Fort Smith, AR. Bonus mother was Iva (Butler) King. She was married for 42 years to Alan Vandergriff of Soddy Daisy. They had 3 sons.
She was an avid Church goer at New Salem Baptist Church, attended Tennessee Temple University and Erlanger of Nursing, and retired from Erlanger as a Communications Specialist/Operator. In retirement she worked for Chattanooga Butter Company owned by one of her sons and was proudly known as "Butter Mom." She was a lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary Post # 4884 Spiro, Oklahoma.
She is survived by her husband Alan; three sons - Matt (Lindsay), Davis, and Brent (Anna); two grandchildren Olivia and Alexis; siblings - Jim (Pamela) King, Virgil Lee (Jeanette) Maynard, Beverly Stallings; brother in law - Kenneth (Barbara) Vandergriff; nephews - Terrell (Jessie) King, Michael King, Daniel King, Joshua King, Scott Vandergriff, Sean (Dana) Vandergriff; Nieces - Courtney King, Lindsey (Ben) Fox (King), Elizabeth King, and Keri (Michael) Murray (Vandergriff).
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Kenneth King, brother-in-law Harold Stallings, nephew Kenneth King Jr, and niece-in-law Tabitha Vandergriff.
There will be a celebration of life service at New Salem Baptist Church in Soddy Daisy, TN on January 11th, 2025 at 5:30pm.
