Having previously owned her own business as a hairdresser for many years, Mona eventually turned to real estate and was a long-time realtor/broker in the Chattanooga area. At the same time, she was also actively involved with Bobby’s homebuilding business. She had a gift and passion for decorating and being hands-on with home improvements on some of the homes.
Mona also enjoyed cooking and caring for family, friends and neighbors in whatever way she could contribute.
Mona was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, and was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Arthur Lewis, and several of her siblings. She is survived by Bobby and her youngest brother, Mike Lewis, who is affectionately known by her children and other family as “Butchie.” She is also survived by all four of her children, Kenneth McKay and wife, Sydney, Paul McKay, David McKay, and Beverly McKay. She has two granddaughters, Regina and Kristel, and three great granddaughters, Kyley, Katelyn, and Hannah. Additional surviving family includes Mike Dixon and his wife, Mindy, and their children as well as Bobby’s sisters, Montress Barker and Imorette Grant, whose children and grandchildren are as follows: Kay and John Billingsley, and their children ; Lisa and Richard Leiderman and their son; Donna and J.P. Venturino and their son; Paula and David Shuford and their children; and Terry Grant.
In her last days, Mona and her family were so very grateful to family, friends and neighbors who came to visit, called, and those who sent prayers and loving messages through others.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, March 13, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. There will be no public visitation.
