Mary Jo Davis Hughes entered into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, February 24, at Morning Pointe. She was a native Chattanoogan, graduating from City High School in 1950, and a long-time member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She worked at TVA and in the family business, Hughes Equipment Company and was an excellent homemaker. She was known for her quick wit and quirky sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron L. Hughes; her parents, Elmore and Willie Mae Davis, and her siblings, W.T. Davis, Robert (Bob) Davis, Louis Davis, Nancy Sylar, and Helen Hines.
She is survived by her children, Lynda Hughes Hendrickson, Reid Hughes (Christy), and Jill Hughes Hudson (Cliff); grandchildren, Lori Hendrickson, Paul Hendrickson, Erika Collins, Jonathan Hendrickson, Madison Hughes, Lauren Hughes, many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews
A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2024 beginning at 12 Noon at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel, with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 2 PM officiated by Rev. Reid Hughes and Rev. Cliff Hudson. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1505 North Moore Road, Chattanooga.
