Born February 8, 1938, in Augusta, Georgia, Martha Ann was a fierce believer in Christ, a beloved wife, a treasured mother, an adored (great) Gram and a passionate educator of 33 years. She was a founding member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, a volunteer at Metropolitan Ministries, and had a desk full of cards ready to send for birthday wishes, sympathy, or thinking of you. Martha Ann lived her life fully and served others while showing the love of Christ.
She was compassionate and supportive of others, loved her family and church, was a Georgia Bulldog, and most importantly loved the Lord.
Martha Ann was greeted at the gates of heaven by her parents, Guy and Virginia Cauthen and her son, James D. Shearouse, III. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her best friend and husband of almost 52 years, Jim. Her treasured children, Susan (Mike) Acuff, Steve (Sherrie) Shearouse, John Wells, Steve (Jamie) Wells, Judy Shearouse, and daughter-in-law, Betty Shearouse; her adored grandchildren, Martha, Katie (Peter), James, Anthony, Chaz, Dylan, Dustin, Alex (JoJo), and Ryan; her “extra blessings” of great grandchildren, Lily, Caleb, Zarina, Xaidee, Raleigh, and Josie; her precious sister Judy (Al) Dasher, brother-in-law, Don Shearouse, sister-in-law, Susan Shearouse; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
