Martha Joan Holloway

Martha Joan Holloway of Hixson died Wednesday, March 1, 2023. She was born November 23, 1929 in Cookeville, Tennessee to the late James Otis and Hallie Mae Fox. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Lynn Holloway; siblings, Alice Smith, Carl Fox, L.A. Fox, Juanita Spencer, and Minnie Ezell.

Joan was a long time member of Central Church of Christ and for the last several years was a member at North Hamilton Church of Christ.

She was a treasured employee of GMAC where she retired after 30 years of service.

Joan loved the property where she and her husband lived for 60 years. She enjoyed working and landscaping the property and watching the wild life that it attracted. She enjoyed hard work and loved the outdoors and flowers, especially daffodils and jonquils.

She has a true servant’s heart and she was always thinking of others. She would often decorate and cook for the fellowship meals at Central Church of Christ.

Joan loved her family and she loved organizing and planning the Fox Family reunions at Cumberland Mountain State Park.

Survivors include her sister, Johnnie Fox Perry; brother, Boodie Fox; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 Saturday, March 4, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Minister David Schonhoff officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 - 11:00 Saturday, March 4 at the funeral Home.

Given her love of flowers, the family asks that if you choose to send flowers, please consider a live plant or flowers that they can share with others as a living reminder of Joan’s life.
