Margaret Dickey Miles, 94, of Chattanooga, Tennessee died on Monday, December 18, 2017 in a local healthcare center. A native of Sweetwater, Tennessee, Mrs. Miles was the daughter of the late David Wesley Dickey and the late Alice Clarine Lee Dickey.
She graduated from the St. Louis Institute of Music in 1941, served as organist at Sweetwater Methodist Church, and was a retired music teacher with the Hamilton County School System. Mrs. Miles was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and was also a member of the Nancy Ward Chapter DAR and the Colonial Dames.
Mrs. Miles was a devoted wife to her beloved late husband, William Polk Miles and a loving mother to her daughter Evelyn Miles DuVal. She is survived by daughter, Evelyn Miles DuVal; two granddaughters, Eleanor DuVal Hobbs (Benjamin David) of Watkinsville, Georgia and Jennifer Lawson DuVal of Chattanooga; one great-granddaughter, Soren Ember Hobbs of Watkinsville, Georgia; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank her dedicated caregivers: Pearl Ellison, Daphne Haskett, and Elouise Pate for all their love, care and kindness.
A graveside service is planned for Friday, December 22, 2017 at 10:30 am in the National Cemetery with Reverend Chris Ehlers of First Presbyterian Church officiating.
