Lewis C. “Sam” Willmore left his earthly home December 31, 2018 to spend eternity with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. There is no doubt that Sam is welcomed into his new life surrounded by family and friends who made this journey before him.
Sam cared for others, which made him an exceptionally good salesman, friend, and provider. His service to our country (U.S. Navy 1951-1955) and his involvement with the Church of Christ (Tyner, Hixson, and Clear Creek) was always of the utmost importance to him. Sam was a graduate of TN Tech. He was retired from Nitron Chemical. He was an avid golfer, having 6 hole in one awards(Creeks Bend and Windstone), a gardener and a cook. At the age of 85, Sam was still known for his ability to tell a joke or riddle without missing a syllable.
Born in Hamilton, Mississippi and raised in Gainesboro, Tennessee,Sam was the son of Benton and Exie Willmore. He is the brother of James, Raymond, Edward, and Benton Willmore, alongside sisters, Ruth Hawkins, Catherine Burris, Rebecca Brown, and Louise Butler. All preceded Sam in death as well as one granddaughter, Candice Willmore. There is a large family reunion in Heaven today.
Sam leaves behind his loving wife of 34 years, Robbie, and his children, Skip (Kim) Willmore of Tullahoma, TN, Clay (Tammy) Willmore of Columbia, TN, Chris (Dottie) Willmore of Chattanooga, TN, Allyson (Jimmy) Louallan of Dunlap, TN, and Nicole (Chris) Cantrell of Hixson, TN. Sam is blessed with seven grandchildren and their families which include Zack (Carrie) Willmore,Tiffany (Chris) Webster, Brad (Valarie) Cowell, Josh Willmore, Elizabeth Willmore, Abigail Willmore, and Alexandra (Wells) Wright. Among this group are four incredible great granddaughters that Sam loved very much.
