Born in the late 1920s, Juanita Burnum grew up in Geraldine, Alabama, worked in the cotton fields with her twelve brothers and sisters. Juanita was an excellent homemaker who could do it all. She was active in the community and belonged to many organizations: the Lake Vista Garden Club ( and was President for many years), PTA, the Lakeside Opti ‘Miss” Club, the ladies auxiliary for TRGDA ( TN Retailers Gasoline Dealers Assn.) and multiple church groups with Tyner United Methodist Church.
Juanita is preceded in death by her husband Roy E. Burnum; parents William and Bertha Mooney;
Juanita is survived by daughter Beverly (Bales) Peacock and husband, Jim; granddaughter, Brandy (Bales) Rogers and husband, Dustin; great grandchildren, Brody , Brayden, Brooklynn Rogers; step grandson, Travis Peacock;
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 3, 2013 from 4- 8 pm and Friday, October 4, 2013 from 11 – 1 pm at Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel
Service for Juanita will be conducted at 1 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Glen Moseley officiating. Interment will follow to Hamilton Memorial Gardens
