James W. Arnold, 83, of Hixson, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 22, 2012. He was born October 5, 1928. James grew up in Dayton, Tennessee before moving to Hixson where he raised his family and retired.
He graduated from Rhea Central High School in Dayton, TN. He was employed by DuPont for 40 years. He was a member of the Hixson Masonic Lodge, the Chattanooga Scottish Rite Society, the Dixie Daisies Square Dance Club, and was an avid UT Vol fan.
James was a member of the Red Bank Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, and was a member of the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class and Prime Timers.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Marie Massengale Arnold; son, James Darrell Arnold; parents, Chub and Ethel Sexton Arnold; and brother, Morgan Arnold.
James is survived by his daughter, Lynn (Phil) Wilson; son, Lamar (Sherie) Arnold; and four grandchildren, Kim Arnold, Josh Wilson, Erin Wilson, and Katie Arnold; sister, Patricia Arnold, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 23, from 5-8 p.m. and Sunday, June 24, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the North Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Bert Jones officiating. Burial will be at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Walter Alley, Jim Wilson, and the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class of Red Bank Baptist Church.
