Eric Graves Summers

Eric was raised in Memphis, TN and graduated in 1958 from Technical High School. He then received his degree in mathematics from Christian Brothers College. After attending college, he served in the US Army before starting a lifelong career with the Federal Government. His initial Federal assignment was with the Central Intelligence Agency as an Analyst and Technology Evaluator. In 1982 he joined the U.S. Geological Survey as a Computer Systems Analyst. His interest in the application of Theoretical Computer Science to practical uses by earth scientists provided many opportunities to improve the computational resources of the scientists.

Eric attended Calvary Chapel Chattanooga and was a lifelong student of the Bible. He loved studying the Word and was completely dependent on God and His grace.

He was preceded in death by his father, Russell G. Summers, and his mother, Nell Elizabeth Collins. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sandy Summers; son, Kevin (Rachel) Summers, step daughter, Anne (Mark) Lowery; and six grandchildren, Morwen, Ingrid, Roland, and Nell Summers, Isabelle and Camila Lowery.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at Calvary Chapel Chattanooga, 3415 Broad Street, Chattanooga, TN 37409 at 11:00 AM Wednesday April 26, 2023, with visitation for friends and family taking place prior from 10:00 AM until service time.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37343.
