She was born November 15, 1916, in Ames, Iowa, to Forrest and Grace Parrott, and spent most of her childhood in Sioux City. Dorothy attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri. She married her husband, Milburn “Fritz”, in 1937 and they moved to Chattanooga in 1940. She and Fritz had been active members of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. Dorothy is remembered as a kind, loving and godly woman who was devoted to her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. She especially enjoyed spending time on her beloved St. Simons Island.
Fritz, her husband of 67 years, sister Helen Forman, and brothers William and Robert Parrott, preceded her in death. She is survived by son Steven of Chattanooga, daughters Martha Hammond and Harriet (Bob) Bunn of Nashville, granddaughters Laurie Bunn Knowles of Murfreesboro and Margaret Bunn Liszeski of Cookeville, sister Barbara Spahr of Alexandria, Virginia, and two great-grandsons.
The family would like to thank long-time caregiver, Freida Hickman, for her years of faithful and compassionate care. They are also very appreciative of the staff at Alexian Village, where Dorothy had resided since 2006.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 15th, 3 p.m., Chattanooga Memorial Park, with Ben Haden officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Changed Lives, Box 100, Chattanooga, TN 37401.
