Charles Alexander, 90, finished his course Saturday, November 12th and went Home to the Father whom he served faithfully. We rejoice that he is reunited with his bride of 67 years, Wanda, along with his parents and sisters.
Charles began his lifetime of service as a young boy working in grocery stores and went on to serve 13 years in the National Guard. He became a successful businessman with McCormick Tea & Spice Company, C & S Distributing, starting his own business 3C Company, and just recently retired from his last business venture with Curtis Vending.
His motto in serving was "a good man finds a way," and Charles always found a way with wisdom through Bible study and prayer. He leaves a legacy of love and service at Northside Baptist and Stuart Heights Baptist Church. Charles never missed an opportunity to share Jesus. As a natural encourager, he never left a conversation without an uplifting word, compliment, or witty joke. His joyful spirit, thankful heart, and love for the Lord was evident to all who knew him. He was a role model, hero, treasure, and a true example of God’s good and faithful servant.
Those who celebrate his life are his children Cheryl and RL Benefield, grandchildren Jonathan and Danielle Edwards, Becky and Zac Johns, treasured great-granddaughters Khloi and Marley Edwards, also cousins, nieces, and nephews.
We miss our Daddy, our Grandpa, our patriarch; but we also know everyone will miss their “Mr. Charles.”
We also want to thank Hospice of Chattanooga nurses Ashley Ewton and George Culver for their loving care of "Mr. Charles" these last few months.
The family will receive friends from 11-1 Saturday November 19th at the Stuart Heights Baptist Church Chattanooga campus, 3208 Hixson Pike, Chattanooga followed by celebration of life at 1pm. The service will be live streamed at stuartheights.org.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Honduras Mission project through Stuart Heights Baptist Church Office, 1505 Cloverdale Avenue, Hixson, TN 37343.
