Todd Richard Perry, age 53, passed away peacefully October 10 in Highland, Michigan. He was at home surrounded by this wife of 26 years, Anne-Marie (Champion), sons Luke (24) and Cole (19) and daughter Brooke (22). Todd fought a courageous battle with cancer over 19 months. His family is grateful for his selfless and relentless fight.
Todd will be missed by his longtime employer, Oscar W Larson Company, a firm founded by his great grandfather. Todd led an arm of the business. If you knew Todd, you knew he was born to lead, and he did so quietly and effortlessly. He always worked hard, never complained, and set the best example to all.
Todd’s life was filled with hobbies and interests outside of work. An exceptional multi-sport athlete at Lakeland High School (class of 1989), Todd excelled at golf, basketball and track. He could hit a drive a mile, dunk a basketball, and once high jumped 6’ 6”. Todd also enjoyed fishing, whether it be for largemouth bass on Oxbow Lake, or steelhead Up North. Each year, Todd, Anne-Marie and their kids would spend a week at St Pete’s Beach with friends (he was always surrounded by huge network of loyal friends). Todd could also be found in the woods, with Anne-Marie by his side, driving a snowmobile or his side by side. The day Todd won a smoker will be remembered fondly by many – Thanksgivings and family parties took a culinary leap through Todd’s impressive skill on that appliance. And when the Lions finally win the Superbowl, you can be sure Todd’s presence will be in the stadium.
Todd will be remembered as a loving, loyal, and generous husband, father, son, and brother. Because he was capable of so much, he gave of himself constantly and willingly. Everyone who knew him can surely recall times where their project/repair/problem was solved through a request to Todd for his help, and they probably laughed along the way due to his unique brand of humor. He will be forever missed by those he is survived by, including his mother, Linda; father, Ric (Sally); brothers Jamie (Anne) and Chris (Sarah); sister in laws, Laura Champion, Marsha Champion brother in law James Champion nephews Aidan Champion, Ethan, Justin Blake and Jax Perry. As well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. .
A memorial visitation for Todd will be held Monday, October 14, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E Highland Rd, Highland, Michigan 48356, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM.
