Sharon Diane Dobney, age 73, of White Lake, died Thursday, July 9, 2020, at her home. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Donald Dobney; her two children: Diane Lynn Maynard, and Donald Albert (Dawn Renee Lawson) Dobney; her three grandchildren: Ashley (Robert) Jackson, Amber Lynn Maynard, and Ryan Michael Dobney; her two great-grandchildren: Aiden Jackson and Ava Dean; and her four siblings: John (Mary) Johnson, James (Cheryl) Johnson, Charles (Kathy) Johnson, and David (Ines) Johnson.
Sharon was born February 21, 1947, in Detroit, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Albert and Anita (Buckley) Johnson. She and Donald Dobney were married on August 15, 1964, at the Salvation Army Church in Detroit. As her children grew up, Sharon was a wonderful homemaker and stay-at-home-mom. However, after her children grew up, she began working as a secretary until her retirement. In her free time, Sharon enjoyed making crafts of all different kinds; she loved to scrapbook, knit, crochet, cross stitch, and make ceramics, to name a few. She also loved to read, and enjoyed cooking meals for her family and friends. Most of all, Sharon loved to spend time with her loving family. She enjoyed planning family vacations all over the United States, and even travelled abroad to Europe. Sharon was a wonderful person who will be missed by many.
A funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm on Monday, July 13, 2020, at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 East Highland Road, Highland, Michigan 48356. Sharon’s family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions in Sharon’s memory to the Salvation Army. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
