John (Johnny) Matthew Sutton, age 47, of White Lake, died Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital in Commerce Township, despite the selfless efforts of those who found him during a pandemic and tried with all their might to keep him alive.
Born in Southfield, Michigan, on September 17, 1973, Johnny was preceded in death by his parents John (Zytkowski) and Judith (Boersma) Sutton. John is survived by his fiancée, Jessica Boan; his unborn son, John Mason Sutton (Little Johnny); his stepdaughter, Michaylee Fallscheer; his parents-in-law, Michael and Patricia Boan; his brother-in-law, Christopher (Christine) Boan; his nieces and nephews: Julia, Alec, Liam, and Maddox; his beautiful black lab Trigger; his sister, Shelly (Darrell) Boyd; his nephew, Darrell, II, and Darshelle.
John worked as the lead carpet installer at Exclusive Floor Covering, his second family, for eleven years. He tried his hand in owning a printing company, despite his love-hate relationship with technology. John also made lifelong friendships while working in the service department as a service writer.
In his free time, Johnny loved to spend time outdoors, was active in sports, and loved being at the cabin he and Jessica shared. John was always up at the crack of dawn building a fire, taking pride in getting it started in any weather conditions.
Johnny loved fishing with anyone who shared the passion and shared many fishing stories spent with his father and good friends. He loved the water and often took his mother canoeing while she was sick; of course, he did not let her touch the ores to row!
John could never leave behind his four-legged companions Bogie and Trigger; they both loved how he took them on every fishing or canoe trip. He loved his dogs, and they loved him, displaying the same calm demeanor Johnny carried with him every day!
John spent a month backpacking across Alaska, which he often spoke of as one of his fondest memories. He had a great passion for golf and basketball and was an elite player in both. He would accept any skins game postured to him and likely take his competitor's money! Growing up, Johnny (Cubby) left no dare or a challenge unaccepted!
Most of all, Johnny was very excited to become a father; the sparkle in his eye was so apparent when he talked about little Johnny. He loved to spend his time with his family and close friends, especially those he called his brothers. John was a wonderful man and a pillar in his community whose laugh just made you smile. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In accordance with John’s wishes, cremation has taken place. John’s family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until 3:30 pm on Sunday, May 23, 2021, at the Highland Hills Golf Club, 2075 Oakland, Highland, Michigan 48356. A brief memory sharing service will take place at 1:30 pm to allow friends to share their stories.
