Helen Talkat, age 96, of Highland, died Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at her home. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Marilyn (Greg) Humphrey, Ricky Raczkowski, Robert (Sally) Raczkowski, and Randy Raczkowski; her five grandchildren: Lisa (David), Jennifer (Mark), Amy, Kelly, and Mark; her five great-grandchildren: Shea, Griffin, Bryan, Fisher, and Joey; and her brother, Ronald Talkat.
Helen was born March 3, 1923, in Hamtramck, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Stephen and Mary Talkat. Throughout her life, Helen worked as an assembly line worker during the Second World War. She also worked as a sales clerk at the Hudson’s store in Westland and Dearborn for twenty five years. In her free time, Helen read the bible. She enjoyed many hobbies, including reading, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and playing scrabble with family and friends. She was a valued member of the Highland Congregational Church in Highland for sixteen years.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Mary; her daughter, Kathleen Raczkowski; her son, Robert Raczkowski and seven of her siblings.
In accordance with Helen’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on December 7, 2019 at Highland Congregational Church, 1605 N. Hickory Ridge Rd., Highland, Michigan 48357. A luncheon will follow the service. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
