Gordon Stephen Buttrey, age 81, of Holly, died Monday, December 14, 2020, at his home. Left to cherish his memory are his four children: Gordon (Sandra) Buttrey, Steven (Shari) Buttrey, Jeffrey Buttrey, and Debbie (William) Keller; his eight grandchildren: Ashley, Gordon, Kyle, Sarah, Stephanie, Jeffrey, Willie, and Lacee; and his four great-grandchildren: Madison, Paxton, Kylie, and Makayla.
Gordon was born December 26, 1938, the son of Ivin and Mary Buttrey. He married Karen Trevithick and they shared many wonderful years together until her death on March 10, 2017. Gordon served in the United States Marine Corps. He worked as an account manager at BASF for twenty years until his retirement on January 26, 2001. He was a valued parishioner at Church of the Holy Spirit in Highland for over twenty years, and a member of the Knights of Columbus council 8500. In his free time, Gordon enjoyed going golfing, boating, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a wonderful man who will be greatly missed by many.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Ivin and Mary; his loving wife, Karen; and his three brothers: Doug, Hershel, and Homer.
The family will receive visitors from 11:30 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Road, Highland, Michigan 48356. A Knights of Columbus ceremony will take place at 3:30 pm. Cremation will follow. Due to the COVID-19 virus the Michigan Health Department has limited the visitation and service to 25 people or less. You may be asked to remain outside until space is available so please dress accordingly.
