Paul Dean Kessler, 83, passed away Sunday, June 3rd, 2018. Dean, the only name he would really answer to, is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean Kessler; sons Jim (Maggie) Kessler, Jeff (Sandra) Kessler, and daughter Wendy (Randy) Hamilton, 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Dean grew up in Munster, IN, married his sweetheart, had their first child and moved to Colorado for a short time before moving back and settling down in Munster again for the next 56 years. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, lifelong member of South Side Christian Church, and played golf when he could. He retired from the Pepsi Cola Co. in Munster as a semi-truck delivery driver and then spent the next 20 years doing what he and Jean loved to do, spoiling the grandkids and great grandkids. Their camping trips would include at least one or two of the grandkids as they all took turns going with Papa and Nanny. Nothing brought him more joy than those kids except for maybe his 1955 Studebaker pick up truck. Dean collected many antiques in his day, mostly Studebaker toy cars and trucks, clocks, Betty Boop collectibles, golf balls, and furniture to hold his treasures. The 1955 Studebaker truck was his pride and joy. He built it to drive and drive it they did. He drove it to Colorado, Minnesota, Texas, Maryland, Florida and all states in between for the National Studebaker Conventions and meets, usually bringing home a trophy or plaque. Since he loved to camp, the truck towed their camper as well. Dean maybe gone but his spirit lives on in his family. There will be a one day visitation/service at Kuiper Funeral home on Thursday, June 7th, 2018 with visitation starting at 2:30 p.m. - 5:45 p.m. with a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. We invite all of Dean’s friends to share with his family the life of Mr. Studebaker, Dean Kessler!
