Manuel Salazar Jr., age 80, of Hammond, Indiana passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 27, 2024 with his loving family at his side. Manuel was born in San Luis Potosi Mexico to Manuel and Carmen Salazar and was the oldest of 4. Manuel is the loving husband of 57 years to Carmen Salazar; devoted father to Marco (Kelly) Salazar, Patricia (Jay) Corral and the late Juan Salazar; proud grandfather to Jaqulyn, Alexis, Jesenia, Aziah, Raphael, Michael, Reyna, Cristian, Jason, Gabby and Justin; great-grandfather to 17 beautiful great-grandchildren; cherished brother to Rosa (Juan) Camarillo, Evelyn Salazar and Carlos (Terri) Salazar; uncle and friend to many. Manuel proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was the former owner and operator of Euclid Tap Inc. in East Chicago with his brother Carlos for over 28 years. Manuel worked for many years as an investigator for North Township Trustees Office. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Lakeshore Convention and Visitors Bureau . He was a member of American Legion Post #369 of East Chicago. He was affectionately known as "Handy Manny" to his family because he was always able to fix anything you asked him to. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 31, 2024 from 3:00-8:00 pm at Kuiper Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He will be laid to rest at St. John and St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Hammond, IN.
